Free Software to Support Your Websites/Blogs

Yesterday I got word from Jason Katzenback at PortalFeeder that they had just released to the public a piece of software previously available only to Portal Feeder members. The software is called CommentKahuna (within PF we call it PortalCommentFeeder which maybe gives a hint as to its purpose).

CommentKahuna is free to anyone, you just need to give up an email address.

So, what’s the scoop?

Comment Kahuna is designed to make it easier for webmasters and internet marketers to gain one way backlinks to their websites and blogs. The software does this by seeking out blogs that have posts with open comments that match keywords chosen by the user. Basically, if I have a page on the subject of ‘article marketing’ then I’d search out blog posts that have posts on the same topic, then I’d post a relevant comment that adds value to the post and include a link to my own page. Assuming that the comment is approved, and many are approved automatically, then one gets an instant backlink from a related page - Just what the search engines want to see when ranking your webpages and sites.

CommentKahuna goes further than just doing this task; you can select blogs according to PageRank and, in order to expand the range of results, most popular blogging software such as WordPress, MoveableType, Typepad and others are included in the results.

Other people are selling comparable software for anything up to $97. CommentKahuna is a real product that does a real job of building links and traffic to your pages and blog commenting software should be a part of every article marketer’s toolbox.

Please, give it a try, even if you already have something similar. Elsewhere I promoted a similar tool but have found that CommentKahuna was a tad easier to use and certainly faster in operation.

Why Did I Stay With PortalFeeder For 15 months?

When PortalFeeder 1.0 launched about 15 months ago it was great concept but not everything was perfect. I really don’t know why things started off as they did. But Marc and his team rapidly got the software doing what it was supposed ot do.

At the time, my money was very tight and my subscription spent on software that was, initially, barely functional was quite a stretch. I was very close to cancelling my PortalFeeder subscription. I am very happy to say that I did not, in the end, cancel. Looking back there was one reason why I did not give up on Portal Feeder. Whether by luck or design we had a very lively forum and user community; possibly because of the issues we faced in getting our projects to work. I chose to continue my payments because of that community. I was getting a rapid training course in internet marketing, site building, HTML, strategy and many other topics. It came because we shared.

Today the PortalFeeder community is, if anything, even stronger; it has been welded into a vital part of the PortalFeeder business concept. Some members have said that the subscription cost was good value for the Portal Feeder community alone.

Over the 15 months since I joined PortalFeeder I have gone from worrying about meeting the monthly subs for the system to making a decent living from my internet based  activities. I use my PortalFeeder training and tools every day for my own benefit and for the benefit of my clients.

As a sidenote, nowadays when looking at a new product or service offering, unless it is of negligable impact on my business or of tiny cost, I always want to know about the community aspects of the offering. This has been a valuable lesson from the PortalFeeder business system (not just software!)

Come on over, sign up for the pre-registration list, read the PortalFeeder blog, get a feel for what is going on here!

Interview with PortalFeeder ‘Supremo’ (that’s Jason not me!)

A few days ago Jason Katzenback of PortalFeeder asked me to have a chat with him about a site I had built a few weeks before and which had used techniques and tools from PortalFeeder.  He knew that I had, using techniques and tools from PortalFeeder, built a site and had it spidered and indexed by Google within a very short time and then taken front page rankings for all the targeted keywords. He asked me if I minded sharing the site and the technques with him.

In this video I share my methods. I hope that you find it of interest.

PortalFeeder 2.0 Is Coming

PortalFeeder is a little over one year old and is one of the best kept ‘non-secrets’ in internet marketing. That is, many people have heard of Portal Feeder, only a few hundred people have ever seen it, even fewer have used it and now that PortalFeeder 2.0 is to be launched there is a considerable buzz about just what PortalFeeder really is.
To start with I would like to mention that I am one of the few people who have been using PortalFeeder since the very first day. I have been on the beta-test program for PF 2.0 since the earliest days and I am still there today and an enthusiastic user.
Over the course of the coming days, weeks and months I am going to share with you as much as I can of PortalFeeder, the system, the software and the service. I will try to be straightforward as I can be, but you are reading the words of one of PortalFeeder’s longest standing users. That may suggest I will not be even handed - true! But I also know more than almost anyone else who will be sending you emails and urging you join […]
